Resolution

I don't usually do the resolution thing, but I thought, after the strangeness that was 2004, I might give it a try this year. Just a list of things that I want to accomplish. I'll look back at the end of 2005, and we'll see just how well I've done. So, without further ado, here's the list:
Get my novel out to a publisher and/or agent. Yep... it's about time. After quite a long time of editing, re-writing, plot adjusting, and basically becoming happy with my writing voice, it's about time to finish this little gem, and put it out into the publishing world and pray. Maybe it'll get accepted, maybe it won't, but it's time to push it out the door and see what happens.
Finish the first book of the fantasy series I've been working on. Okay, so it's another lofty goal, but, I've been plotting and devising changes to go ahead with a bunch of books based on the D&D world that I created way back in my gaming days. Based very loosely on gaming events, and much more upon the background fiction created for the world, the series looks to tackle many angles of what's going on down there on the black and white map I've drawn. I've already put a ton of work into the spellcasting history, a silent tongue (even defining what each gesture means), and tons of deciding on races, names, and so forth, so much of the background is there. It's time to sit down and write out what's actually going on then. If all were to go well, I've already enough material for about 12 books. Of course, we'll see what happens.
Promotion at work. I've been a webmaster and graphic designer for the last six years. Mostly a graphic designer as the focus on our website wanes and waxes with the moons it seems. Word is I'll have some greater focus on the web this year, but, through all of that, I'm hoping to get a promotion this year, and maybe take a slightly different direction. Hard work's on the forefront, but hopefully it will all pay off.
Visit my family more often. Last year, with the death of my paternal grandfather, I found myself back in touch with a side of my family that I hadn't seen in a very long time. My cousins, Pam, Diane, and Carrie... my sister and brother, Jenni and Lenny... my biological father... my granny... and my ... first cousin once removed or some such thing (never was really good with the whole roadmap after immediate family), Tony. My goal this year is to see all of them more than I did last year. I think I made a good effort last year, but it's about time to make it a much more serious effort. They're fun people (for the most part... I've still got a few issues with at least one of them...), and really, it's time to make those connections stronger.
Get a new car. My old car may not like to hear it, but it's time to put him out to the pasture. Trey's been a good car, for the most part, but it's about time to start looking at something new (and something with a little less the scent of lemon).
Well, I think those are my major goals. We'll see how it works out! | |
