One of Those Strange Moments
filed on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 11:24:25 PM CST

I remember sitting in the front yard of my grandparent's house many years ago when I was in high school.  I sat for a good half-hour, fourty-five minutes just watching it rain across the street.  It was completely clear on my side of the street, but showering quite well on the other.  It's a memory that has stuck with me these many years, and will probably stick with me for a great many more.  It's just one of those cool, strange moments when the lines of nature seem so bizarre.

Tonight, another moment, clearly as strange, and arguably more unique.  I was walking outside to head over to McDonald's (and ending up at Arby's because the McyD's drive-thru was packed), and walked toward my car.  The closer I got, the more like rain it sounded.  I stepped off the driveway to walk over to my car door, and started getting wet.  It was raining.  But only on our side lawn, left of my driveway, and west from there.  I was so excited, I walked back over to the middle of the driveway just to be sure.

It might seem silly, but the quirks of nature have always fascinated me.  Obviously the rain must end somewhere.  It's just cool that, tonight, it was running along the edge of my driveway.
