"Go figure... all this time, I thought that there was some magical force that drew evil to Skara Brae like magnets. I guess there's something that attracts Kings there too... it's just a little offset. Like, instead of True North and Magnetic North, it's True Madness and Magnetic Madness."

They Could Hear the Bells
filed on Sunday, August 05, 2007 at 6:25:15 AM CST

Okay, so I'm totally infatuated by the movie Hairspray.  The original version was good, but this current incarnation is absolutely great.  And so I started roaming the countryside on an impossible mission:  trying to locate the soundtrack.  Four Best Buys and a FYE later, I've got a copy of it, the FYE manager wondering where the hell I managed to find the copy that I got ahold of since he thought he was sold out.

So later on in the week, I'm driving around on Butterfield Road, blaring the soundtrack, and "I Can Hear the Bells" is playing.  I'm just sort of going about my business, enjoying the music, not really paying attention, and then I look over to my left as I'm sitting at a stop light, and there's three guys and a couple of women in the car next to me, and all of the guys are chuckling as they're rolling their windows back up.  Now, mind you, I'm sitting there all scraggly with my unshaven beard thing going on, so it had to have been pretty funny seeing this "guy" guy "jamming out" to the Hairspray soundtrack.

But seriously, I know I raved about this movie before, but if you haven't seen it yet, GO SEE IT!  It's such a fun, enjoyable movie with plenty of comedy and tons of fun.  I went and saw it again this past Wednesday with Liz and Devicka from my Speech class, and we all had a blast.  And Devicka's got my soundtrack now, so no more driving around letting other people hear the bells.
